PASSPORTS AND VISAS

Citizens from the European community and Latin American won't need a Visa to enjoy our country, just presenting their passport at the airport. FLIGHT TAXES AND CUSTOM

CURRENCY, BANKS AND CREDIT CARDS

Our national currency is the NUEVO SOL, its symbol is NS /., however, many establishments accept american dollars. The entrance of foreign currencies is unlimited, you may exchange these currencies at the airport,at principal banks in the city, exchange money houses and street vendors (black market). it is important to have special care with bill change on the street, you could get fake money. We recommend to carry american dollars on. Other currencies might need certain establishments to exchage it. In the same way your left soles could by chance into american dollars or other currencies at the airport without any problem. All Banks are opened Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 13:00 hrs and from 16:30 to 18:30 hrs., some banks work on Saturday until noon. Maybe any schedule variation during summer time. Without any inconvenience you will be able to get cash from a ATM machines at any bank. Whether you have Visa or Mastercard. In the same way your credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and important stores.

CLOTHING

Keep in mind which season are you coming; which region you are visiting and the kind of trip you are making (trekking or a comfortable one). Anyway jeans are a good choice, but remember is better to have pant not too tight. TAXES AND SERVICES Restaurants and stores charge to the total sale a tax rate of 18% and a tax services of 10% up to 13%, usually these taxes are already included in the price. It is used giving tips to porters , waiters and the ward robes but taxi drivers.

TRANSPORT

Airway: We have the following airlines: AEROCONTINENTE, AVIANDINA, TANS AND LANPERU. Railroad: The train of the Mid-country Lima/La Oroya-Huancayo (keep going to Huancavelica) a master piece of engineering in the last century; the train crosses through highland valleys, it goes by Ticlio to 4,800 m.s.n.m. the railroad at the highest point in the world. The train of the South among Arequipa/Puno/Cusco, also the train Cusco /Machupicchu which requires itineraries consulting. Bus Service: They are quite cheap and very comfortable especially in Pan-American South highway; between Arequipa-Puno and Cusco the highways are not paved, that makes the trip quite exhausting.

SCHEDULES

Stores open generally from 09:00 to 13:00 hrs. and from 15:00 to 20:00 hrs. Some others have only day schedules. The supermarkets open up every day and even on Sundays. The travel agencies and airlines usually assist from 9:00 to 13:00 hrs. and from 16:00 to 20:00 hrs. Consulates and embassies usually assist half-day with some exceptions.

RESTAURANTS

Our country has a wide range of restaurants, besidest of the excellent Peruvian cousine, many peruvians usually frequent international restaurants like Chinese, Italian, Argentinean, Japanese etc. The Peru possesses good quality liquors like the PISCO, a grape liquor that symbolizes the national drink; with it you prepare a famous cocktail called PISCO SOUR, you will love it. SALUD The "Soroche" or high-altitude illness, comes with a light dizziness, headache and eventually vomits. It is produced for the low oxigene presure at a the height point. To avoid the "soroche" try eat very little the night previous to trip, glucose or COCA INFUSION, lemon candies, rest Aa bit; eat and drink as less as possible.
